PERFECTLY DETAILED.

Pluto or Pluto the Pup is an animated character made famous in a series of short cartoons by Walt Disney Studios. He appeared most often on screen as Mickey Mouse's pet dog. Pluto also had an independent lead role in 48 Disney animated films during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Pluto stands out from other Disney characters in that he is not anthropomorphic, other than an unusually wide range of facial expressions or the use of his forepaws in some cases; he actually acts like a normal dog (unlike Goofy, who is an anthropomorphic dog).
Pluto was initially a minor character until 1934, when Disney animator Norm Ferguson gave the dog the lead role in the cartoon Playful Pluto. In it, Pluto gets tangled in flypaper, and Ferguson significantly increased the length of the episode. The episode has become a classic, demonstrating how Disney artists can take the simplest circumstances and make a scene funny through the character's behavior.
Pluto is considered one of the first Disney characters to break with the "hose and hose" style that the studio relied on; the design of the dog gave it the impression of being three-dimensional rather than flat. Additionally, Pluto is one of the first cartoon characters to be shown actually performing a thought process through animation.
The puppy first appeared in the cartoon "The Chain Gang", released in the USA on August 18, 1930. However, the puppy did not have a name. On his next appearance, on October 23, 1930, in The Picnic, the dog was called Rover rather than Pluto. It wasn't until The Moose Hunt, published on May 8, 1931, that the dog was named Pluto the Pup. In September 1931, an illustration of the character appeared in Barrier's Hollywood Cartoons.
There is a difference of several months between the naming of a celestial body thought to be the ninth planet of the solar system, Pluto, on March 24, 1930, and the naming of a Disney character. Venetia Burney (later Venetia Fair), who proposed the name "Pluto" for the planet, remarked in 2006: "The name has nothing to do with the Disney cartoon. Mickey Mouse's dog was named after the planet, not the other way around."
Despite the assumption that the Disney studio named the dog after the planet (and not the mystical god of the underworld), this cannot be reliably stated. Disney animator Ben Sharpsteen said: We decided that the name Rover was too common, so we decided to look for something else. […] We changed it to Pluto the Pup , […] but to be honest I don t remember why.
