thor: ragnarok is a 2017 american superhero film directed by taika whitey, based on the comics by stan lee, jack kirby and larry lieber. it is a sequel to the paintings of 2011 and 2013, as well as the seventeenth film of the marvel cinematic universe. the main roles were played by chris hemsworth, tom hiddleston, kate blanchett, tessa thompson and mark ruffalo. the film is set four years after the events that took place in the film thor 2: the kingdom of darkness, and two years after the avengers: the era of ultron. in the story, thor, who was imprisoned at the other end of the universe without his hammer, must stand in a gladiatorial duel against his old friend hulk in order to have time to return to asgard to stop the ruthless hela and the coming ragnarok, the death of all things.
